Summertime, and the Studio's Busy!

Summer!  A good time to make a new post with lots of new happenings in the studio.  I have been busy gearing up for two new shows and my open studio on Monhegan Island in Maine.
I am delighted to be part of the group summer show "Summer Vacation" at Patricia Hutton Galleries in Doylestown, PA.  Paintings of coastal New England will be featured and I have several pieces from Monhegan hanging. The show opens Friday June 22 with a reception from 5 - 8pm. I will be attending this and am looking forward to seeing all the other works by some very talented artists that I am pleased to be showing with.  It promises to be a wonderful show and runs all summer. Please stop by if you are in the area.
In July, I was invited to be part of the Bucks County Audubon Society "Art of the Barn" tour on July 14th and 15th.  This is a tour of 12 beautiful historic barns in Bucks County that will each host 2 artists (one 3D artist and one 2D artist) and some of their work on location.  In addition to the tour (which is a ticketed event), there will be a large art show at the Bucks County Audubon Society Visitor Center on this weekend with a "Castles in the Field" reception on Saturday the 14th from 7-9pm.  The reception is also a ticket event. Please check the website for details on both events. This is the first show of this type that I am participating in and I am looking forward to it.
Finally, I will again be holding an Open Studio on Monhegan Island in Maine.  My days are July 20 - August 3.  The studio will be open daily from 12 - 3 or by chance and is located on the road leading to Fish Beach.  On display will be drawings and paintings in charcoal, watercolor and some oils that I have been kicking around.  That's the awesome thing about having an open studio. It's a studio instead of a formal gallery so there doesn't always have to be a theme (or even a rhyme and reason) to what is going on.  For example, I mention that I have been adding small studies in oils and exploring the different handling of the medium as opposed to strictly painting in watercolor.  Check it out:

See, I can do that.  It's MY open studio so I can hang dead animal heads and toilet paper the whole place if I wanted to.  Of course, dead animal heads would probably be too difficult to wrap and ship and I would probably lose some kind of security deposit on the studio along the way, so I will stick to paintings and drawings.
I enjoy the informality of the open studio and I especially enjoy getting the chance to talk with people and answer questions about my work. Or other peoples' works but, yeah, mostly my work.
If you are on island during that time please stop in and say hello.  I'd love to meet you or see you again!
Have a great summer!
